ADVISORY: COUNCIL TO MEET JANUARY 7 IN RICHMOND

RICHMOND —  The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) will hold its regularly scheduled meeting January 7 in Richmond. The meeting will include remarks from Katherine Rowe, President of the College of William & Mary; Bob Holsworth, Political Analyst; and Carla Williams, Director of Athletics for the University of Virginia.

The Council’s Academic Affairs and Resources and Planning committees will meet beginning at 9:45 a.m. at the SCHEV offices (101 N. 14th Street, 9th and 10th floors). Council will take action on a proposed mission statement change for the College of William & Mary and certification of the Institute of World Politics.  Council also will take action on enrollment projections and degree estimates, revisions to the domicile guidelines and initiatives related to The Virginia Plan for Higher Education.

The meeting will include a review of the Governor’s introduced budget and an update on the 2020 General Assembly session. Council will receive a progress report on the higher education and workforce alignment project and a presentation on the Innovative Internship Program. The meeting will include updates on fall 2019 enrollments at public four-year institutions, the graduate outcomes survey, the Transfer Virginia initiative, the Strategic Finance Plan and the status of standardizing financial aid award letters.

The Council will convene its regular meeting at 12:30 p.m..
