The process for being considered for state financial aid requires two separate steps.

Step #1: Complete an in-state tuition application and qualify through:

  1. Domicile requirements;
  2. Military dependents provision; or
  3. Tuition equity provision.

Step #2:  Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) OR Virginia Alternative State Aid (VASA) Application and meet the requirements for the specific financial aid program.

Notice to DACA students: To apply for state financial aid, you must complete a Tuition Equity Provision in-state tuition application and VASA application.

warning

Students should contact their college for more details and assistance. The office of admissions or registrar is responsible for reviewing and determining eligibility for in-state tuition. The financial aid office is responsible for reviewing applications, determining eligibility and awarding aid.
