"Robert Lindgren, president of Randolph-Macon College in Ashland since 2006, announced on Wednesday that he will step down next year.

'Buoyed by the steadfast support of students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and friends, I believe Randolph-Macon is stronger than ever and thriving as we head into this new year,' Lindgren said in a statement.

'At the same time, I also recognize that, like students, seasons of life drive my time at our beloved College.'

'And today, I believe the season has come for me to announce my decision to retire at the conclusion of the 2024-2025 academic year, June 2025.'

Randolph-Macon, situated on 125 acres in Ashland, a town in Hanover County, has 1,500 undergraduate students. It prides itself on individualized attention, noting that it offers 55 areas of study and has an average class size of 16 students.

During Lindgren’s tenure, according to the college, the school has worked to boost enrollment, “revitalize RMC’s campus” and increase academic programs and private support for the college,'" reports the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
