ADVISORY: Council to meet January 9

RICHMOND — The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) will hold its regularly scheduled meeting January 9 at its James Monroe Building office in Richmond.

The Council’s Academic Affairs, and Resources and Planning committees will meet at 10:00 a.m. in SCHEV’s office. Topics include actions on proposed degree programs at public institutions, proposed education licensure degree programs in shortage areas, proposed mission statement change at a public institution, and budget and policy recommendations for the 2024-26 biennium. Council also will discuss work of the Academic Affairs Committee and the Governor’s introduced budget for the 2024-26 biennium. They will receive an update on 2023 degrees and certificates awarded.

The full Council will convene for its regular meeting at 12:10 p.m. Katherine Rowe, president of William & Mary, will present remarks. Topics include discussion of public institutions’ six-year operating plans and the 2024 General Assembly session. They will receive updates on the agency-director search process, the annual report on the statewide strategic plan and the Virginia Talent + Opportunity Partnership internship initiative.
