FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

RICHMOND — Virginians have a new tool to help them plan for their education after high school with a new website launched by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia. Level Up Virginia provides information on educational options such as certificate programs, apprenticeships, the military, trade schools, two-year colleges and four-year colleges and universities.

SCHEV worked with high school counselors, students and college access experts to ensure that the website meets the unique needs of Virginians.   “Students have dozens of opportunities once they complete high school. Level Up Virginia serves as a compass to help students and their families navigate one of the most important decisions of their life,” said Peter Blake, SCHEV director.

Visitors to the website can explore the different educational opportunities, learn how to pursue the path they choose and examine financing options. In addition, the website offers tips for adult learners, students with disabilities, first generation students and English language learners. Those looking for assistance can use the website’s college access provider directory to identify local organizations that offer additional support to students and their families.

“This new website gives Virginians one more tool to choose the best path for education after high school and 'Level Up' their careers,” said Erin McGrath, assistant director of college access and outreach.

Level Up Virginia is a statewide initiative led by SCHEV and the Virginia Department of Education with the mission to increase postsecondary readiness, enrollment and completion for all students in the Commonwealth.
