ADVISORY: Council to meet September 18-19 in Harrisonburg; joined by Council of Presidents

RICHMOND — The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) will hold its regularly scheduled meeting, as well as a joint meeting with the Council of Presidents, September 18-19 at James Madison University in Harrisonburg.

The Council’s Academic Affairs, and Resources and Planning committees will meet September 18 at 1:00 p.m. on the JMU campus. Topics include actions on a proposed degree program at a public institution, a proposed organizational change at a public institution and a revocation process for a certified postsecondary school. Council also will receive briefings on changes to federal financial aid policies and the six-year plan process. In addition, Council will discuss institution’s enrollment projections and the 2024-26 biennium systemwide budget and policy recommendations.

At 3:00 p.m., Council will hold a joint meeting with the Council of Presidents, comprised of presidents from Virginia’s public four-year institutions.

The full Council will convene for its regular meeting at 9:00 a.m. on September 19. Jon Alger, president of James Madison University, will present remarks. Topics include actions on the priority initiatives supporting the statewide strategic plan and the 2024 meeting schedule and locations. Council will receive a briefing on the Transfer Virginia Portal and the SCHEV Director search process.

A brief orientation session will precede the meetings on September 18 to welcome four new Council members.
