SCHEV Announces New Leadership Roles

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

RICHMOND  The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) announces three new board members and new officers for 2023-24.

On July 14, Governor Glenn Youngkin named the following three individuals to serve on Council:

  • General John Jumper of Spotsylvania, former Chief of Staff, United State Air Force (retired); former Chairman and CEO, SAIC; Chairman and CEO, LEIDOS.
  • Delceno Miles of Virginia Beach, founding President and CEO, The Miles Agency.
  • J. Douglas Straley of Louisa County, Superintendent, Louisa County Public Schools.

The new appointments replace Ms. Katharine Webb, Mr. Mirza Baig and Dr. Jeffery Smith.

At the May Council meeting, members re-elected Mr. Ken Ampy of Richmond to serve as chair and elected Ms. Victoria Harker of McLean to serve as vice chair and Mr. Thaddeus B. Holloman, Sr. of Newport News to serve as secretary.

“Congratulations to our new officers and welcome new members. I look forward to working together to help make Virginia the best state for higher education,” said SCHEV Director Peter Blake. “I’m thankful for the service of our departing Council members, who have brought valuable and transformative perspectives to our work.”
