News Release: VMI Investigation Final Report Issued

Post Date:06/02/2021 2:27 PM

RICHMOND — This afternoon, the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) released the final report from Barnes & Thornburg (B&T) from its equity audit and investigation into the culture and practices at the Virginia Military Institute. The investigation was ordered by Governor Northam and legislative leaders in October 2020. The final report, its appendices and exhibits (along with the initial and interim progress reports) are available on the SCHEV website under the “Investigations” section. PLEASE NOTE: The appendices and exhibits are an integral part of the report. Please be sure to review each of them as they represent the totality of the process.

Said SCHEV Director, Peter Blake, "SCHEV will not reach any conclusions or make any recommendations on the B&T study until after we have had ample time to review it. We look forward to engaging VMI as well as the broader higher education community to consider issues raised by the report and recommendations."
