Meeting Location Change - 9-13-21: SCHEV Committee Meetings & Joint Meeting with Council of Presidents

RICHMOND — Today's Council committee meetings and the joint meeting of the public college presidents have moved to Virginia Hall (The Barett Room and the President's Conference Room) on the campus of Virginia State University.

Virginia Hall is directly behind the Lindsay-Montague building. As you approach Virginia Hall from the parking lot, please proceed to the side door of the building taking the elevator to the third floor.

Parking is reserved in Lot 16 for all guests. Enter "Lot 16 Faculty / Staff Parking, Hayden St, Petersburg, VA 23803" into Google maps for the most accurate directions.

The committee meetings will be held from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m., followed by the Joint Meeting with the Council of Presidents from 3:15 - 5:00 p.m.

RICHMOND — The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) will hold three public meetings this week::
  1. Council Committee Meetings: Monday, September 13 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Virginia State University.

    Academic Affairs Committee: Agenda topics include discussions of Academic Affairs Committee responsibilities, the Open Virginia Advisory Committee and SCHEV’s strategic priorities; review of program announcements from public institutions; and actions on a mission statement change at University of Virginia’s College at Wise, private postsecondary institutional certification and a private postsecondary institutional provisional certification.

    Resources & Planning Committee: Agenda topics include discussions of Resources and Planning Committee responsibilities; institutional performance standards and Virginia State University certification, enrollment projections and degree estimates, and a draft of budget and policy recommendations for 2022-2024.

  2. Council of Presidents Meeting: Monday, September 13 from 3:15 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Virginia State University.
  3. Agenda topics include resumption of on-campus learning, budget recommendations and institutional priorities, internships, and diversity, equity and inclusion plans.

  4. Full Council Meeting: Tuesday, September 14 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at The Science Museum of Virginia.

    Dr. Makola Abdullah, president of Virginia State University, will deliver remarks. Council will take action on initiatives to support Pathways to Opportunity: The Virginia Plan for Higher Education and the FY 2022 meeting schedule and locations, as well as hold discussions on outcomes of the General Assembly’s Special Session and federal funding for colleges and universities in Virginia, and a summary of institutions’ Diversity, Equity and Inclusion plans.

These meetings are open to the public.

Please note that due to A/V limitations at The Science Museum, the Full Council meeting on September 14, 2021, will not be available to watch online, nor will it be recorded. We encourage those interested to join us in person. Social distancing and masks are encouraged.
