Advisory: Council to hold regularly scheduled meetings on March 21-22

RICHMOND — The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) will hold its regularly scheduled Council meetings next week at Longwood University in Farmville.

The Council’s Academic Affairs, and Resources and Planning committees will meet from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. on Monday, March 21. The full Council will convene for its regular meeting at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 22. Taylor Reveley IV, president of Longwood University, will present remarks.

Topics include actions on programs at public institutions, a private postsecondary institution provisional certification and private postsecondary fee changes regulation. In addition, Council will discuss program announcements from public institutions; private postsecondary education operations and activities; issues arising out of the 2022 General Assembly; 2021 degrees and certificates awarded; the New Economy Workforce Credential Grant annual report; and the cost and funding needs study.

On March 21 at 4:00 p.m., Council will participate in an educational session titled, “Longwood, Farmville, and Prince Edward County: Reckoning and Diversity” and a tour of the Moton Museum. On March 22 at 9:30 a.m., Council will engage in a conversation with students from SCHEV’s Student Advisory Committee on critical issues impacting student well-being, persistence and completion.
