ADVISORY: Council to meet May 16-17 in Virginia Beach; joined by Private College Advisory Board members

RICHMOND — The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) will hold its regularly scheduled meeting May 16-17 at Virginian Wesleyan University in Virginia Beach, including a joint meeting with the leaders of Virginia’s private, nonprofit colleges and universities.

The Council’s Academic Affairs, and Resources and Planning committees will meet May 16 beginning at 1:00 pm on the campus of Virginia Wesleyan University. Topics include actions on a proposed degree program at a public institution, a proposed doctoral degree program, a private postsecondary institutional certification, distance education regulations and the state policy on college transfer.  

In addition, the Council will discuss transfer policy development, the cost and funding need study, the Fund for Excellence & Innovation, institutional performance standards and six-year plan process, and credential tracking.

At 3:00 p.m., Council will hold a joint meeting with the Private College Advisory Board, comprised of presidents of the private, not-for-profit colleges and universities in the Commonwealth. 

The full Council will convene for its regular meeting at 9:00 a.m. on May 17, in Virginia Beach. Scott Miller, Virginia Wesleyan University's president, will present remarks.
