RICHMOND — The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) will hold its regularly scheduled Council meetings, as well as a joint meeting with the Council of Presidents, next week at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
The Council’s Academic Affairs, and Resources and Planning committees will meet Monday, September 19 from 1:00 p.m. - 2:45 p.m. The joint meeting with the Council of Presidents will take place from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. The full Council will convene for its regular meeting at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 20. James Ryan, president of the University of Virginia, will present remarks.
Topics include actions on a private postsecondary institution provisional certification and the 2023 meeting schedule and locations. In addition, Council will discuss out-of-state distance education certifications; program announcements from public institutions; a new framework for transfer associate degree programs at Virginia’s community colleges; FY 2024 budget and policy recommendations; cost and funding needs study; student enrollment trends; six-year plans; priority initiatives supporting the statewide strategic plan, Pathways to Opportunity; and remote participation bylaws change. Also, Heather McKay and Todd Oldham from the Virginia Office of Education Economics (VOEE), will provide an update.
VISITOR PARKING:
Paid parking is available in the Central Grounds Parking Garage at 400 Emmet Street South. Visitors must pay at one of the stations.
- Park on any level of the lot. (Level 3 is the top floor.)
- Take the elevator or stairs up to level 4.
- You will be outside the Bookstore.
- Walk straight ahead toward Newcomb Hall. (Signs will direct the way.)
- Enter Newcomb Hall, and you will be on the 1st floor of the building.
- Take the elevator or stairs to the 3rd floor, where all meetings will take place.
